Are you working on a motorway or high-speed road? Then you need to be Chapter 8 compliant. Although it’s not yet official legislation, it’s definitely not worth overlooking – think of it as good road manners and better safety all round.
Many organisations are starting to adopt these guidelines as best practice and will only allow chapter 8 compliant vehicles
onto their work sites. If you often work freelance but use your own van or if you own a fleet of work vehicles – don’t get left behind because you avoided such a simple application.
What markings do I need to be chapter 8 compliant?
- Fluorescent yellow retro reflective stripping (bit of a mouthful we know) that are no less than 50mm wide along the length of the vehicle
- Highway maintenance labels/motorway maintenance labels
- Reflective door strips – red reflective tape to all rear-facing edges of doors, guardrails and equipment lockers
- Reflective red and fluorescent yellow chevrons in a specified layout, covering as much of the rear facing part of the vehicle as possible
- Additional markings – Where rear facing part of the vehicle may be obscured by any device mounted on the vehicle
- High visibility markings on the front of the vehicle
As you can see, Chapter 8 compliance is quite meticulous and that’s where we come in. We have plenty of experience applying the kits carefully so you don’t have to worry about frayed edges, signs stuck in the wrong place or being the odd one out at your worksite.
We can complete the job quickly at a fair price – leaving you with a vehicle that’s safe for you to work in and others to be around.
