Vehicle graphics can be tricky to get right. How many times has a van advert caught your attention but left you unable to read their contact details or confused about what they actually do? It happens to us far too often!

Bad design choices can really detract from the impact your advert could have. The last thing you want is for a potential customer to be left baffled, only to drive off with your business erased from their mind.
We’ve put together the 5 worst offenders when it comes to vehicle graphic blunders, to help you avoid doing the same!
Cool font, but we can’t read it
Hold your horses before you get too excited over a trendy new font. It may look good on screen, close-up but is it going to be legible on the side of your van, especially at 60mph? Stick to fonts that are simple, bright and easy to read. Avoid swirls, symbols and non-contrasting colours.
Too much information
We know you’ve got a lot to say about your business and you don’t want to miss anything important. Remember though, a potential customer might only have a few seconds to take in what they see as you drive past. Its better to get a simple message across clearly than trying to get everything and the kitchen sink on there!
It’s also tempting to fill empty spaces with extra details but that can lessen the impact of your main message. When it comes to vehicle graphics, the golden rule is “less is more!” A vehicle wrap should be eye catching yet simple enough to remember.
Don’t forget that all the detailed information about your products and services can be presented on your website – all your vehicle might have to do is tell them enough to get them online to find out more.
It doesn’t even fit
Uneven edges and graphics stretched over door handles and petrol caps look messy, which doesn’t reflect well on your business! Badly applied vinyls can soon start peeling at the edges. This is where we stress the importance of working with a reputable, professional company. A little more invested at the start can pay dividends in the long run. And if you are a follower of BBC’s Top Gear you will know how important it is to check what your vehicle will look like when you slide the door open – it could give a completely different message to the one you intended!
I need that service! Oh, wait….
So your photo’s impressive, your brand message is on point but your contact details are nowhere to be seen. Major error! In a world of convenience, no one is going to spend time looking for you. Your call to action should be easy to read at all times.
Not using the opportunity
The average vehicle driven 15,000 miles per year will pass in front of 9,000,000 vehicles – that’s a lot of free advertising you should be taking advantage of. If you expect the customer calls to come flocking in with a standard plain car or van, you’ll probably be waiting a while.
